Marilyn Monroe Raises Eyebrows With Her Farmer Fashion!

A female journalist called Monroe 'cheap and vulgar'.

She even wrote that Monroe would have looked better in a potato sack. Twentieth Century fox decided to fulfill her wish, and they photographed Marilyn Monroe in fitting burlap potato sack to prove that she would look appealing in anything.

As for who tailored it to hug her famous curves, chances are good it was William Travilla, the costume designer who crafted her iconic looks in eight films, including the pink satin gown in 1953's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the billowing white dress in 1955's The Seven Year Itch.



The 20-year-old model — who was born Norma Jeane Mortenson and later baptized Norma Jeane Baker — suggested Monroe, another surname on the mother's side of the family, while Lyon came up with Marilyn because she reminded him of Marilyn Miller, the Ziegfeld Follies Broadway musical star who starred with him and W.C.
